It's time to catch up and post some work from the end of summer and beginning of fall. It's a variety of Plein Air, Charcoal and studio work. Enjoy!
As the summer comes to an end, so does the season for our Outdoor Artists. It's been a tough summer with rainy weather on our Thursdays and a few of our regulars have moved away. But we persisted anyway and the good weather days turned out to be great painting days. Here are a few of my last Plein air projects....
Summer in the Northwoods!
Not the best weather this summer for Plein Air Painting but I did salvage a couple pieces that I liked!! We have one more scheduled outing this week and I'm hopeful we will have sunshine!!
Everyone was very pleased with the 50th Anniversary Art Show and Celebration!! Our crowds were larger than normal and sales were higher!!
While I didn't sell any of my pieces, it is always fun to participate!!
I submitted the following 3 paintings in the show!!
In celebration of the 50th Anniversary, Members of Manito Art League have chosen to honor the past with donations of art for the future. Members have contributed new original art on 12 x 12 canvas boards. The art works will be sold for $50 each during the “Squares for Scholarships” exhibit. The exhibit will open June 7 at the Vilas County Business Incubator located at 399 S. Highway 51 in Manitowish Waters.
The public is invited to an Opening Reception hosted by the Business Incubator, Sunday June 7
from 4-6 pm. Artists and guests will have the first opportunity to purchase their choice from the 12 x 12 “ art at the opening. All proceeds from sales will be used for arts scholarships.
The exhibit will continue though July 31, but interested buyers are encouraged to attend early. Many of the artists participating are well known and their art sells for far more than the $50 special anniversary price. Works are expected to go quickly. The Business Incubator display area is open Monday – Friday 10:00 am. – 4:00 pm.
I've been SO busy, I almost forgot to update this Blog!! The Plein Air Event in DelRay Beach was great fun! I was able to complete two pieces during the single day event....no prizes and no sales but I liked them and had a great time!!
We've been having great weather on Marco which leads to great Plein Air painting opportunities. A couple pieces didn't quite get resolved as well as I would have hoped but then a couple did...that's the way it goes!!
Saturday, March 28 will be the last Brushes and Paint show of the season. We will be at the Marco Walk from Noon - 4:30 (or later). Look for us in the hallways leading to Davinci's and Nacho Mama's....weather looks great so it should be fun!!
I'm heading over to Delray Beach to participate in their Plein Air Competition! On Thursday, we have the opportunity to paint up to 2 pieces which will be entered in the competition and also be available for sale to the public. Unfortunately, the long range forecast is talking about showers and possibly thunderstorm....I'm hoping they are wrong as usual!!
Saturday, February 28, I will be participating in the 'Brushes and Paint Show' at the Marco Walk. It will start at noon and continue at least til 4:30 or beyond. Artists will set up in the corridors that lead into the plaza next to DaVinci's and Nacho Mama's.
I have 2 new pieces to include in my collection on display...both are 8"x8" square and framed.
Bring your 'Honey' to Mackle Park on Saturday, February 14 to get a head start on your Valentine's Day Celebration! I will be participating in the Art Show... so stop by and say 'Hi!'.
Just finished up 2 new paintings for Sunday's show. (1-4:30 @ Mackle Park, Marco Island)
